Thankful Thursday

If you have been reading my blog this week, you no doubt are aware of the major loss in our community. Pastor Forrest Pollack and his 13 year old son Preston were lost in a private plane crash on Monday. He pastored a VERY large church here in Brandon. My hubby and I met at this church in 2000. We were married in 2001 by the former pastor. Pastor Pollack, his wife and six children came to the church in Dec 2002. Hubby and I were members of the church until we felt God leading us to a church plant down the road. Nonetheless, we still have many friends and major ties to the church, thus to the Pastor and his family. It is truly sad to see someone so young (he was 44 and his son was 13) leave this earth and his family. It is hard for our human minds to fathom "Why" these things happen. I can tell you that I have seen and heard God talked about more on the news, in the community, at the grocery store, in the paper, on local websites, etc than I have heard since 9/11. It is so great to see all the churches of various denominations sending out their wishes to the Pollack family and the Bell Shoals church family. I am sure Pastor Forrest would be happy to hear this and see God being talked about so much as anytime the Pastor is mentioned in the news, there is a mention of his faith and devotion to God. This tragic event rallied all denominations, schools, reporters, believers and non-believers alike -- for the purpose of praying for the family and their great loss of not only a father and husband but also a son and brother to the survivors in his immediate family. As Mordecai told Queen Esther in Esther 4:14"....for such a time as this....?" The Lord may be telling Pastor Forrest and Preston... "I called you home for such a time as this....See the people are talking about me and your legacy of being a godly man and father!" I am sure He is also adding in to both of them "well done my good and faithful servant, well done!" (Matt 25:21) Well done Pastor Pollack -- Well done!! Enjoy the fruits of your labor and celebrate with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We shall meet again one day!! My hubby wrote a nice and moving blog entry at WOW what a ride!! Check it out if you have time!! This week I am thankful for the following:
  • For serving a mighty God
  • For the assurance of my salvation
  • For knowing the there is a reason for the death of the Pastor and his son
  • For the way the community has rallied around the church and his family
  • For my hubby and all that he is to me
  • For my little fella
  • For my family and friends
  • For the family that is getting our old entertainment center (we don't have room for it anymore and I am glad you can be blessed by it)
  • For the woods floors that we should start laying this weekend
  • For this past Mother's Day - time with family
  • For this coming Sunday and my trip with hubby to see Duran Duran
  • For all of you for Reading this blog
  • For Dana for making me WALK the 5k this Sat and for Betsy for backing her up
Thank you for all your prayers! Blessings, Paula
