The Mystery

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27 (NIV) Today, my hubby and I took our son to see "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything." We're fans of the Veggie Tales around our house and pirates have been a theme for us this year so it made since to go see the movie. I must say it was a good movie with a good message but it was lacking in one major area. There was no mention of God or Jesus. It was however implied with the story line. I was able to pick out "God" elements and messaging but I wonder if those who do not know HIM picked up on it. I take comfort in the fact that according to Col 1:27 the "mystery" has been made known to those who have Christ as their Savior. After leaving the theatre, I pondered the reason God was left out of the movie. Then it came to me, that He wasn't left out of the movie. He can and will use this movie, other movies or anything in this world to make himself known to all the peoples of this world. As Isaiah 19:21a (NIV) says, "So the LORD will make himself known to the Egyptians, and in that day they will acknowledge the LORD." Feel free to substitute "Egyptians" for any group that needs to be reached by the good news of Jesus Christ. You and I are called to be missionaries right where we live. Reach out with the kindness of Christ and see how HE will use you. Dear Lord, Please help me in the times that I am "the only Christ others may see." Help me to see and feel you in the ordinary and extraordinary. Help me not lose sight of the "Mystery" which is Jesus Christ. Thank you Lord for your sacrifice. AMEN Application:

  • Who are the "Egyptians" in your life?
  • Think of the last time you were "Christ" to someone else.
  • Pray that the Lord gives you opportunities to share his "Mystery" with others.
  • Look carefully around you and you will see and hear God in everything.

Welcome to the blog world my sister! Hope you enjoy blogging as much as I do. I started my site back at the end of October as I was led to be an encouragement for others. May God use your site as He is using mine. Blessings!
