Thankful Thursday

See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is what he promised us—even eternal life. 1 John 2: 24-25 (NIV) It has been an emotional week for me but with God's help and the assurance of salvation along with eternity in Heaven, I can praise Him in ALL things. For those that have been following my blog this week, you know that my 95 year old great grandmother is currently at the doorway to Heaven but as of this post, the Lord has not taken her into His arms but it appears that she could go to be with Him at any time! I have so much to be thankful for this week:
  • For my LORD and Savior
  • For having my great grandmother in my life and her positive role model she was for me
  • That Grandma Daisy will soon be home with my Grandpa Carl, my uncles and all those friends and family that have gone on before her
  • That God has answered her prayers to go HOME!
  • Wonderful Christians who lift one another up in prayer -- thanks to all of you praying for my family
  • That my brothers and I could be together this week - as different as we are -- we have so much fun with each other
  • The strength that Lord has given each of us as we sit by Grandma's hospital bed and tell stories of our favorite memories
  • That little fella and his cousins got to know their great-great grandma and we have pictures and videos to share with them as they get older
  • For laughter!!!
  • That my family is totally at peace with Grandma's upcoming home-going!
  • For my hubby and his support
  • For my sweet little man asleep in the bed next to me
  • Traveling mercies
  • For the financial resources to make the trip
  • For the LOVE of family even though we don't always see eye to eye
  • PRAYER
  • God's Word and His promises

Blessings,

I would like to ask for continued prayer for my family and for God's timing for Grandma Daisy's homecoming! We're going to miss her but this is what she has lived her whole life for.

Wow Paula,

The legacy of your grandmother is so profound. I pray that when we finally leave this world, we too will have a legacy of love for our Savior to leave this world.

Loved your post. Have a wonderful TT.

Paula, this is a precious post. It sounds like your great-grandmother has passed on her precious spirit to you and one that understands the benefit of living with the end in mind, always looking forward to "that day." Does that type of thinking not change your perspective?

These are the types of homegoings that your not saddened about. You'll miss them terribly but seeing them anxious to be with the Father just makes things so much better. It's really a celebration. It's something you're glad to witness and be a part of. What a testimony you and your family will have.

I'm glad I read this post. When my grandmother died a few years ago, it was the same way. My family members knew how she felt and she loved the Lord. We were so glad she was going to be out of pain. We rejoiced for her.

Your post is a blessing. Have a great day.
