God's Meeting Place

You were shown these things so that you might know that the LORD is God; besides him there is no other. Deuteronomy 4:35 NIV The sun shines out my window and I am in awe as I admire the way the light cascades through the clouds to make majestic looking streaks appear to fly from all angles on the clouds. It's like God is showing me His latest masterpiece. I liken it to a halo often portrayed around the angelic looking cherubs in childrens' stories or the glow that is emitted on portraits of Jesus. It's somewhat soft and inviting, yet powerful and inspiring. God never seems to disappoint me when I take the time to notice what He has created, in the sky in particular. I often find that when I am driving from my mother's home around the sunset hour and my son usually falls fast asleep that God seems to beckon me to visit for a while. It's at this time that I have a quiet talk with God and thank Him for all that He has done in my life and in the lives of those around me. Sometimes He and I travel in comfortable silence, sometimes I cry to Him, other times we just chat. All the while, He paints this tapestry before me on my drive home that leaves me breathless yet completely aware that my God is the only creator in the universe. I think that God predestined this to be "our" place to meet because the drive home from Mom's is a little long and somewhat boring, yet it is in a direct path of the sunset. I am able to watch the first hint of pink touch the horizon as the sun just begins to sink and the timing works perfectly that as I leave the eastward road, the last touch of color sinks to the ground only to be called upon the next day. The night is now upon me as I drive the last couple of miles to my home. On those days that are not so sunny or I don't have purpose to drive the eastward direction at the sunset hour, my Heavenly Father beckons me to recall our last drive together. I often smile to myself and thank Him for the chance to "chat" with my Heavenly Father. God is an awesome God, but He is also the WORLD'S BEST DAD!!! He loves to spend time with His kids -- just try it and I know you will like it!!! Dear Father -- Thank you for your creations and the beauty You surrounded me with on this Earth. Thank you for inviting me to meet with You and creating such a great backdrop to watch unveil as I drive home. AMEN Application:

  • Do you have a memory or a place that God meets with you?
  • Is there something in God's creation that takes your breath away?
  • Pray that the Lord will show you something that is just between the two of you that is special and comforting - a place where you and He can "chat."
